Where East Meets West

Retreat centre

7 – 9 June 2024.

Discover the universality of Jesus Christ’s teachings through the legacy of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the timeless spiritual classic ‘Autobiography of a Yogi‘, a book which has inspired many seekers onto the path to direct experience of the Divine.

“Paramhansa Yogananda prophesied that someday the purpose of all religions would be accepted as being one and the same: Self-realization. … His own mission, as he stated it, was above all to teach ‘the original teachings of Jesus Christ, and the original yoga teachings of Krishna.’  (Kriyananda, Religion in the New Age)

Born in 1893, Yogananda was the first yoga master of India to make his home permanently in the West.  From arriving in America in 1920 until his Maha-samadhi (conscious departure in death) in 1952, Yogananda lived in America, fulfilling his divine mission to show that the religions of East and West are both rays of the One Light, with the same ultimate goal.

We will explore some of the high principles and practices that are expressed in both the teachings of Christ and of Krishna.  Including the Holy Trinity, the Word, karma and reincarnation, and the concepts of Divine Avatara, Guru & disciple.

The timing of Yogananda’s mission is such to bring these universal Truths forward in clear language and principles relevant now and for future times, for the upliftment of all humanity.

The retreat will be held by Brahmacharini Bhakti, a long-time disciple of Yogananda and a founding member of Ananda Sangha Australia.
