Dear friends of Campfire in the Heart,

As we enter into this summer season, we have been reflecting on the wonderful and challenging year it’s been. Our involvement with Campfire in the Heart officially began in early January and since then we have experienced the joys of being part of something enormous and yet at its heart very simple. Both, it seems to us, arise out of the extraordinary location as well as the people who share a deep love for all that Campfire in the Heart has to offer. Many of those coming to Campfire have reflected similarly, that the wonder of the place provides a deep sense of awe and of being simplified, harmonised.

Managing Campfire from afar this year has been challenging and at times complex. We continually give thanks for the great support from our Board, the Campfire Companions. We are also delighted with the on-the-ground, daily practical help that our new managers Nicola and Huss are bringing to Campfire as they settle into their roles. And for so many who daily gather online for meditation and morning prayer, an enclosure of love and care around all that happens there. (Let us know if you’d like the link to join us.)

We are however facing the very real issue of surviving through the coming summer period when activity at Campfire slows right down. Not so many people choose to come when it is so hot! Of course this significantly affects our income even while our regular running costs continue, including but not limited to power, water, wages, insurances and maintenance. And as we face this quieter summer season our financial reserves are already limited.

The call to Campfire in the Heart continues to draw us, even so it’s not so easy to name … a strong sense over 20 or so years that our way of meditation has a natural connection with a spirituality of the land and of our First Peoples. A sense that the promise of relationship with our indigenous sisters and brothers holds so much both ways. And a sense that the promise and hope of Christmas is a time to share generously, to encourage each other in our hopes and dreams, as we again celebrate Jesus’ coming among us, Emmanuel indeed.

In this spirit we are inviting you to consider extending the grace of this Christmas season with a gift to Campfire. Your support as we grow into a new season at Campfire will enable us to breathe a little easier at this early stage. We will be more grateful than you will likely know!

You are probably aware that Campfire in the Heart Ltd is a Not-for-Profit company. We are actively exploring whether it might become a registered charity … perhaps next year your donations will be tax deductible. Nonetheless we would deeply appreciate at this time whatever financial support – small or large, one-off or regularly over these 4-5 quieter months – you may be able to offer.

Our bank details are:

Campfire in the Heart Ltd
BSB: 633 000
Account number: 189 251 077

We feel blessed in so many ways to be carrying the gift of Campfire into its new season. Thank you for contributing what you can to the promise of this journey.

With much love and very blessing of this sacred time,

Judi and Paul on behalf of the Campfire Companions Board
