If people knew,
what it is like for me to sleep outside.
There is no ‘outside’ anymore,
once you get rid of this roof,
between your place of rest and the clear sky.
I court the wind, which makes the Gum Tree leaves sing
with a delicacy only heard at night when all is calm.
Finally, when all doing has gone to rest in little boxes,
Nature is mine.
Like two shy children, we find each other, each night,
to play silently with the subtlety of our senses.
Like two secret lovers,
we reach to each other’s presence and in our embrace,
discover God’s endless Making,
while the world is satisfied with what has been made today.
