When I arrived at Campfire in the Heart as a volunteer I noticed a wall that looked like a canvas to me. I felt called to paint a mandala mural there.
Mandala is Sanskrit for ‘circle with energy’, they been used in all cultures and religions for centuries, from Celtic spirals and Indian mehndi to mediaeval church labyrinths.
Circles represent wholeness and unity. The centre point symbolises the self or the divine. Radiating patterns can represent growth or the journey from inner to outer realms. It’s like a secret language of the soul, speaking to us through shapes and colours.
My intention is for the mandala to welcome all who come to Campfire in the Heart with its bright colours.
It helps to clear old energies and bring in new. It feels like it’s constantly turning, moving energy. This mandala can be used by visitors as a focal point for meditation.
Outside in nature while gazing at the mandala, let yourself relax and you will notice the movement. Each person can set an intention for what they want, using prayers or mantra to receive healing energy.
Some of the different visual element I included were hearts for love, fire for cleansing and warmth, leaves for nature and connection to earth, all revolving around Campfire’s logo at the centre.
