Celia has a particular interest in the theology arising from the Australian desert. She is the author of ‘ A Voice in the Wilderness: Listening to the Statement from the Heart”, “Into the Desert” and “Songs from a Strange Land”. This retreat is a journey into Scripture, landscape, Indigenous theology and art, including live music by John Coleman. It is held by the rhythm of our life of prayer and reflection at Campfire in the Heart.

Wide Skies and Open Hearts Retreat led by Sue and David Woods with Celia Kemp
14th – 20th June 2020
The Retreat is conducted over 5 days, beginning at 4:00pm on a Sunday and concluding on Friday evening after a celebratory dinner.
The Retreat connects the Gospel Narratives and our own story with the elemental themes of Land, Water, Incarnation, Fire and Air.
Over the week, participants are introduced to a medley of prayer practices. Each day begins with a brief Liturgical Morning Prayer that introduces theme for the day. After breakfast, a time of Christian Meditation leads into Imaginative Experience of the Gospels followed by Personal Journaling. At midday retreatants have the opportunity to share a brief response to their journeying through the morning.
There is a rest period after lunch.
At 3:00pm we visit a special aspect of the landscape within a 15 minute drive of Campfire in the Heart, to explore, to appreciate the Arrernte Landscape … to sit, to walk, to draw, write or dance with the land.
The day concludes with Night Prayer and an introduction to the Awareness Examen reflecting on Jesus’ presence within our day.
Retreats include extended periods of silence.
