Wide Skies and Open Hearts Retreats
14th – 20th May 2017 & 10th – 16th September 201
The ‘Wide Skies and Open Hearts’ Retreats are led by Sue and David Woods, who have a long lived experience of community and prayer and connection with the Arrernte people of Central Australia. They have lived in Alice Springs for the past 18 years.
The Retreats are conducted over 5 days, beginning at 4:00pm on a Sunday and concluding after breakfast and an early Labyrinth Walk on Saturday.
Wide Skies and Open Hearts Retreats connect the Gospel Narratives our own story within the Central Australian Landscape and it’s People.
The Gospel Narrative for each day links the elemental themes of Land, Water, Incarnation, Fire and Air.
Over the week, participants are nurtured in a medley of prayer practices. Each day begins with a brief Liturgical Morning Prayer that introduces theme for the day. After breakfast, a time of Christian Meditation leads into Imaginative Experience of the Gospels followed by Personal Journaling. At midday retreatants have the opportunity to share a brief response to their journeying through the morning.
There is a rest period after lunch.
At 3:00pm we visit a special aspect of the landscape within a 15 minute drive of Campfire in the Heart, to explore, to appreciate the Arrernte
Country… to sit, to walk, to draw, write or dance with the landscape.
The day concludes with Night Prayer and an introduction to the Awareness Examen reflecting on Jesus’ presence within our day.
