Rhythm of the day

Prayer and meditation can be an inspiring part of your stay at Campfire in the heart.

Morning Prayer – 7.30 am Monday to Friday.

Morning Prayer brings inspiration and nourishment to the many activities of  Campfire in the Heart. The prayer is gentle and reflective with singing, recorded music and silence.

Morning Prayer consists of three movements:

  • A Celebration of Gratefulness
  • Reading of Scripture. (After the reading of Scripture a silence is observed, giving time to reflect on the readings and how they touch their lives.
  • Intercessory Prayers for our world.

Christian Meditation – 5.30 pm Mondays

This time of meditation includes a short talk on meditation from one of the leaders of the World Christian Meditation Community followed by 30 minutes of silence. This style of meditation comes from an early tradition of Christian prayer rediscovered and taught by Fr John Main OSB and more recently by Fr Laurence Freeman OSB.

Campfire in the Heart links with the World Community of Christian Meditation through the Australian Christian Meditation Community. For more information check the following websites

Local people and guests are most welcome to join in all times of prayer.

“The important aim in Christian Mediation

is to allow God’s mysterious and silent presence within us

to become, more and more,

not only a reality but the reality

which gives meaning, shape and purpose

to everything we do, everything we are.”

John Main

Campfire Reflection … 6.30 pm Wednesdays

Each Wednesday evening a group of 10 – 20 people gather around the Campfire under the stellar Night Sky for a simple shared meal and conversation on a topic of interest.

Campfire gathering

The meal begins at 6.30 pm.  Each person brings something to share.

Conversations begin around the fire at 7.30 pm.  The act of sharing our story helps us to acknowledge and celebrate the simple things of our life.

All are welcome.

Recent topics include:

  • What do we mean by desert?
  • What attracts us to live in the Centre?
  • What part does faith play in my life here?
  • Relationships across cultures.
  • What helps me to live through hard times.

“Being by the fire, in the spell of her glow

watched over by the stars, lifted aloft with the moon

listening to the stories, telling our own

sipping the wonder of life’s cuppa –”

Noel Davis

Our story

Campfire in the Heart reflects our vision for a place where people can gather to tell their stories, draw strength and sustenance from each other, and grow in their understanding of their life in the Centre.
