Tonight’s Campfire Reflection will be around the theme of ‘HOME’ and I thought this would be a great way to introduce our Reflections From The Heart section (or blog) on our new website.
Living in the Centre, we are greatly influenced by Arrernte people who have a special relationship with the Land, their apmere.
But for people who choose to stay with us, there are bigger questions posed by the theme of HOME.
What is home for us?
Is home a place?
Is home ‘belonging’?
Is home a track ‘in between’, or a journey?
Is home something that gives us identity, a place where we feel comfortable, or a place of paradox?
Is home simply a place ‘where I’ve got to be’?
Is home physical, or a state of mind?
These are the questions I will be inviting you, our guests and locals from around Alice Springs to come and explore with us around the campfire tonight.
Home is a place of fascination
Part of my fascination in living in this part of the country is watching the micro-changes in the landscape.
Checking out tracks that cross my path on morning walks is one of the wonders of my home, as captured in the picture above.
I often wonder what is captivating the ants, whose underground world I am unable to see.
From my human’s-eye view, the decoration around the top of their nest makes my mind boggle about what’s happening inside.
Go closer and what does one find?
I look forward to welcoming you to my home soon.
